Pyro & Vicky RC 2024.jpg

February 9th, 2026

Letter of transparency,

I have some news to share, and I do so with a mix of humility, concern, and hope. We have a confirmed upcoming litter from Pyro and Vicky. This was not a planned pairing—it was an accidental breeding, and one that has weighed heavily on me.

Litter is due March 8th 2026.

As someone who is deeply committed to health testing, responsible breeding, and transparency—and as a member of the Breed Club health committee—I am acutely aware of the responsibility I carry. Both Pyro and Vicky are carriers for EAOD, which means that even with optimal selection testing of all puppies, there is a 25% chance a puppy could test as affected. It’s important to note that the EAOD test is a marker, not a diagnosis; an “affected” result does not guarantee early-onset deafness. For that, I am truly grateful, and I recognize that this situation could have been far more serious.

I want to be very clear: I take full responsibility for this unplanned litter. These puppies will receive the same love, care, and dedication as every litter we raise. We will be fully transparent about health testing and outcomes, and we are committed to placing each puppy in the best possible home.

Ironically, if Pyro and Vicky were not both EAOD carriers, this would have been a dream combination. They are exceptional dogs in temperament, structure, and ability, and I am genuinely excited to see what they produce together. To those in the Border Collie community who know how deeply I care about ethical breeding, I hope you can also share in my cautious optimism as we move forward.

While this was not the path I intended, I believe strongly in doing the right thing once we are on it. I am committed to ensuring these puppies receive the very best start in life, and I am grateful for the support and understanding of our community.

If you are interested in welcoming one of these puppies into your home, I invite you to visit our website and complete a puppy questionnaire. I truly believe this litter will be something special—sometimes the most meaningful things come from the unexpected.

Thank you for considering opening your heart to one of these remarkable puppies, and for continuing to support responsible, transparent breeding.
